Friday 7th November
This week we sung 'we are done' by the Madden Brothers.
I think this song is about sticking up for yourself and not letting people hold you down.
For me, it's telling me not to doubt myself. You never know what you can do unless you try it.
My favourite line in the song is the chorus because it has a catchy ring to it.
Monday 3rd November weekly reflection
We have been really busy this term in room 5!
Some of the things we have done are..
basic facts
schonell spelling tests
Athletics
reading tests
calf club
sugar skulls
show not tell
shared lunch
assembly
music
deciding what art to use for calf club
dream catchers
maths investigations
my favourite thing was sugar skulls because you got to create a pattern that was unique to you. The hardest thing was outlining my skull because it had to touch the bottom of the page and it also had to be perfect.
I am looking foward to prize giving because it will be interesting to find out who will get awards.
Friday 19th September Weekly reflection
The best thing this week was creating the silhouettes (below) because you got to chose many different coloured dyes and put them anywhere on the paper.
The hardest thing this week was maths (telling the time) because I don't have much experience with it.
Something I am going to work on next week is finishing our dust covers because they will look great on the wall.
Thursday 18th September 2014
Today for art we created silhouettes using the folowing…...dye, black glue, paper and straws. straws? you might ask why would they need straws? well, I’ll explain what we did from the beginning. We first got two pieces of paper and dyed it either blue, red or yellow then we chose a silhoutte picture of somthing. Next we traced around one pice of dyed paper with the silhouette pictur and put black glue on top. Then wecut and glued our image on dyed piece of paper number two and got the straws, and colected some dye in the bottom of the straws we then blew it around the paper and..presto whammo! room five had an amazing piece of art.
Friday 29th August
This week I really enjoyed life education because it was fun learning new things about the human body.
Something I found hard this week was finding all of the hidden bar-codes in order because I kept missing some out and muddling them up.
What I love most about our topic work is getting to do lots of hands on things because it's lots more fun than learning something knowing that you can't touch it of see it in real life.
Friday 1 August
The best part of me is my sky blue eyes
My eyes have seen lots of things and remember precious moments.
My eyes love to see my family and friends they see my pet cockatiel chirping and putting her head down for a scratch or nibbling my book quietly.
My eyes remember the excitement of the time my mum and my best friend’s mum let us have a sleepover. My eyes also remember plunging into an icy pool with wetsuits and snorkels on.
My wish is to wake up with beaches clean from litter and not see any newspapers packed with stories about sea life dying from people dumping their waste in the waters.
These are the reasons I love my eyes. I hope you liked it!
Week 2 reflection
My favourite thing from last week was the tower challenge because I loved the thrill of winning.
The hardest thing this week was probably grid art because the grids had to be perfect.
A risk I took this week was with my grid art because I drew the picture on the squares only using a permanent marker, a pencil and some crayons.
Taj Mahal, Sydney opera house, St Basil's Cathedral,The great pyramid of Giza and last but not least the Gherkin.
These buildings all have quite different shapes. So today we did grid art with these buildings in case you don't know I will explain what you do..... Well we had to measure the squares 2cm x 2cm and then you draw picture exactly like the actual photo. We did this for geometry because all the shapes were uniqe.
Thursday 19th June
Today I learned to save and upload a photo to my wikipage.
PLANE
DISTANCE TRAVELED
plane 1
original dart 4.32
plane 2
plane 2 13.70
Today we made paper planes. I learned that long pointy planes fly further
another fact is heavy planes fly better l also learned how to put in a table. Did you know that a plane has to be symmetrical to fly properly.
Matthew's plane flew the furtherest.
This is my story about my incredible place but its not finished yet. I like my story because you can imagine anything and just write it down. Friday 13 June
I was in my room minding my own business when I heard a strange sound buzzzzzz b-b-b-buzzzz I ran into the playroom and there in the middle of the room was a huge colourful swirling tornado it was dazziling and sort of hipnitizing, then I started mumbling to myself ‘’soo pretty ‘’ then I smacked my head snap out of it I said to myself there is a tornado in the middle of the playroom without thinking I jumped into the tornado ahhhhhh! I screamed
Friday 6 June
My favourite thing this week was doing circle art, because you choose an animal that has a bold print like a tiger (I did a blue and gold macaw) then we used our computers and search up 3 facts about your animal and put it on your wiki. Then you get a piece of scrap paper and put the pattern of your animal on it, when you are finished with that you put it on a good copy but you do it in a semi circle we then attach all our semi circle
Thursday 29 May
